How do I know which size will fit me best?

Getting the fit right is as important to us as it is to you! That’s why we’ve spent days putting together our own, gender-free size chart which is different from conventional sizing. Our clothes have been perfected to fit different body types. While placing your order, refer to our size guide. And if you still have questions, do contact us.

Our silhouettes vary from slim-fitting to oversized, so each style will have a different measurement. If you have questions about a specific style’s measurements, just mail us. Do include your bust, waist, and high hip/low hip measurements with your note and we’ll help you with the fit that you love best.

How do I take my own measurements?

Bust measurement: Measure your bust by placing the tape measure 1-2 inches below your armpit on one side, guiding it around your back, and ending back where you started. Make sure you measure over the furthest point of your chest.

Waist measurement: Find the halfway point between your belly button and the bottom of your ribs. Circle a tape measure all the way around this part of your torso to get your waistline measurement.

Hip measurement (high): Your high hip is where your hip bone begins. Measure the top of your hips by placing the tape measure approximately 3-4 inches below your belly button and circling around. Your high hip is where your hip bone begins.

Hip measurement (low): Your lower hip is where your hip bone ends. Measure the lower part of your hips by placing the tape measure approximately where the zipper of our jeans would end (about 3-4 inches inches below your high hip) and circling around.

We incorporate real feedback from you.

Can I order a custom dress for my wedding, bridal party, or just because?

Unfortunately, we do not offer custom dresses as we don’t have the production capacity to make it happen just yet. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns about our current collection, we can offer recommendations and find you something you love!

How do you choose what materials to use?

We use post-production deadstock fabric for most of our garments, i.e fabrics which are just as good as the one’s used but left behind as a result of conventional factory practices. We promise the best quality of fabric to our customers so we collect fabrics which are Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS)-certified organic cotton. Aditionally,, we use other sustainable fabrics from certified vendors.

Is Buknot a vegan brand?

Yes we are a 100% vegan and cruelty-free brand. No animals are harmed in any manner at any stage in the production of our clothes. And neither do we use any animal byproducts. Take our word for it!

What is sustainable fashion?

Sustainable fashion is about doing things the hard way to secure the future of our planet and everyone on it. If we want to continue making and buying clothing, we must protect the people and natural resources that make it possible. Sustainable fashion works to do this, and amplify these practices, so that the industry continues to propagate good and prevent harm for as long as clothes are made.

What is Buknot doing to help fight climate change?

Sustainability is at the core of everything we do — from our factory, fabrics all the way to packaging. We are invested in future-focused solutions that are kind to our planet. We repurpose deadstock fabrics to craft clothes that find their forever home in your wardrobe. Additionally, we use other sustainable fabrics only from certified vendors. In keeping with our focus on sustainability, our  packaging is  entirely plastic-free.

We’re encouraging  our customers to embrace sustainability by promoting environmentally conscious choices like recycling, participating in carbon offset projects, and educating customers on the environmental impact, versus conventional clothing.

What is circularity?

Circularity goes beyond the linear model of take-make-dispose to create an economy that aims to restore itself. The idea is that instead of following a straight line, the model moves in a circular fashion so nothing gets thrown away or released into the environment. It focuses on three principles: design out waste and pollution, keep products and materials in use, and regenerate natural systems.

What is deadstock?

We define deadstock as old, leftover, and over-ordered fabric from other designers and fabric warehouses. We verify individually to ensure that the fabric is actually deadstock.

What is microfiber pollution?

Microfiber pollution happens when clothes made with plastic shed tiny pieces of plastic called microfibers. Microfibers are too small to be filtered out by waste treatment plants, so they end up in our waterways and oceans by the billions. Once in the ocean, they act as pollution magnets that marine animals mistake for food, which harms aquatic ecosystems, and can eventually end up in our food.

What are you doing to reduce microfiber pollution?

We do not use any fabrics that shed microfiber.

Who makes your clothes?

We like to make a positive impact and empower communities in every way. All our cutting & stitching happens in a tiny village on the coast of Odisha. We have to travel by Train, then a car, then a boat & then a van to reach this fishing  village! Our tiny production unit is run by Nityanand - a masterji who was working in Bangalore for 11 years until the pandemic took away his job. Afterwhich, he along with many other members of his unit returned to their hometown. But he loved his job so much that he started building his own unit. He started employing local villagers and his business began to boom with time!
